welcome prospective parents

You are on the way to understanding your child's rights, protecting their well being and helping to set a course for the best possible success in their future. Be Proud! Be Brave! Be Determined!

We are dedicated to promoting children's health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent(s), family, and community involvement.

As Special Education Advocates, we bridge the gap between educators and parents to fill an important role in the lives of children with special needs and disabilities.

As mediators and problem solvers for MyAdvocate.Rocks, we will help children with special needs to receive individualized attention and spend as much time as possible in the least restrictive environment.

With more than 6 million U.S. children who qualify for special education services each year because of a physical or emotional impairment, intellectual disability or disorder that makes learning more difficult for children with disabilities, who are often put back into the closet by the uninformed, ill advised administrator and general education teacher. With a natural talent for communication, an appreciation for diversity and a background in specialized training, special-education MyAdvocate.Rocks will make a difference in the lives of children.

As your Advocates, we are here for your child.

  1. (1) Attend IEP meetings with you, help you get services and develop a better IEP.
  2. (2) Insure your school district complies with state and federal laws.
  3. (3) You and your child deserve respect and necessary support from your school district, we guide and assist you in obtaining both.
  4. (4) The IEP is vital to your child's growth. Are you being properly informed with facts or left in the dark after a meeting?
  5. (5) Learn about your rights, take control and use the power you have under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
  6. (6) Never tolerate being ignored by administrators and learn how to request assistance by various school district board members.
  7. (7) Understand the law about appropriate accommodations and modifications written into your child's IEP.
  8. (8) Determine if the school district has placed your child in the appropriate grade level or program based up the IEP. Do not assume the school district is always in compliance.
  9. (9) As necessary or required by law, make sure appropriate testing has been preformed. Often outside private professionals are paid for by the school district.
